Football Delhi celebrates Sunil Chhetri’s Birthday by launching ’37 Plus League’

This is the first of it’s kind League in India involving retired players and there is an overwhelming response to this League with 21 teams, divided into three groups. The 37 Plus League will be played on League cum knock out format and the league will continue till the end of October 2021.

New Delhi: Football Delhi celebrated Delhi Football Day, Sunil Chhetri’s Birthday, by launching the 37 Plus League.

The 37 Plus League was inaugurated by Mr KB Chhetri, father of Sunil Chhetri. Since 2018, Football Delhi is celebrating Delhi Football Day in the honour of Indian National Football Team Captain Sunil Chhetri.

On this occasion Sunil Chhetri released a video message. Sunil Chhetri stated, He is happy to learn Football Delhi is celebrating Delhi Football Day on his Birthday and congratulated Football Delhi for launching the 37 Plus League on this occasion, and he wished the participating teams good luck. He further stated, “keeping fit is important and it is good that retired players getting this opportunity to be part of a league.”

Mr KB Chhetri inaugurated the league and he stated, “Very honoured to inaugurate the 37 Plus League in the honour of Sunil Chhetri and he thanked Football Delhi for extending the honour to Sunil Chhetri with this initiative”.

Football Delhi President Shaji Prabhakaran stated, “We are greatly honored to launch this League in the honour of Sunil Chhetri and with this league we want to create a holistic scenario for football development in Delhi where there are football activities for all age group, from 4 to 70+. He extended warm Birthday Greetings to Sunil and wished him continuous success on and off the pitch and also thanked him for his continuous support to develop football in Delhi”.

The inaugural match was played between Old Stars and Vikas Puri Football Club at JLN Complex.
