New Delhi: International Adventurous Swimmer Dr. Meenakshi Pahuja successfully completed Palk strait swimming on 2nd April 2023. She covered a distance of 28 km from Sri Lanka (Thalaimannar) to India (Arachamunai)) within 10 hours 20 minutes.

Meenakshi, 45 years, is from Delhi, daughter of Late Mr.V.K Pahuja and and Late Mrs.Komal Pahuja, Associate Professor of Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi.

Meenakshi said, “This was one of the toughest one among her previous achievements and her next ambition is to swim across Catalina Channel this year in July.’

She started her swimming 🏊‍♂️ Thalaimannar at 10.30 pm and finished at Arachamunai at morning 9.34 am. Aquatic Association Madurai team received her and honoured her.

Mr NJ Boss, General Secretary of Tamil Nadu Mechanised Boat Welfare association, Mr. S.Sampatkumar, Customs officer,Rameswaram were among the guest who received her.

She and her crew of 18 members including Aquatic Association Madurai members left Srilanka fisheries boat ferry Rameswaram on 1st April 2023 4.30 PM and reached Thalaimannar by 8 PM. Her swimming started at10.30 pm . The swim was flagged off by Mr N Kannan, Hon’ble Secretary, Aquatic Association Madurai. During her swimming she faced many challenges including jelly fishes, unexpected current and waves but her determination made her continue her swim. After entering the Indian border, she had to face high waves. The dignitaries from various field gathered to congratulate her.
