New Delhi: “Karate is a Japanese martial art whose physical aspects seek the development of defensive and counter attacking body movements” it is stated by Vice Chairman – Shri Satish Upadhyay after distributed the prizes amongst the winners of National Karate Championship 2023 at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi organized by Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) & National Karate Federation (NKP) on the theme of “let’s unite on one platform to promote karate in india”.

Shri Upadhyay said that the championship showcased the diverse talents of over 700 participants hailing from 22 different states. The contestants enthusiastically engaged in three distinct categories: traditional karate, full-contact karate, and non-contact karate. Notably, an impressive turnout of approximately 300 female participants, with a significant representation from Bengal and Tamil Nadu, added a dynamic and inclusive aspect to the event.

Shri Upadhyay highlighted the significance of Karate, especially for women, emphasizing its role in fostering self-defense skills that not only provide protection but also bolster self-confidence and self-esteem.

He informed that the PEFI, a National Sports Promotion Organization recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, spearheaded the event. Comprising top physical education teachers, sports professionals, and officials, PEFI has been dedicated to advancing physical education and sports across the country. The organization focuses on creating sporting opportunities to develop positive skills, leadership qualities, a competitive attitude, and teamwork among the youth.

Shri Upadhyay emphasized the alignment of the National Karate Championship 2023 with the Fit India Programme, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting diverse sports and encouraging talented athletes to represent India internationally.

Wishing the athletes success, Shri Upadhyay urged participants to uphold the spirit of fair play, underscoring the transformative power of sports in building trust and fostering relationships.

The event witnessed the presence of numerous participants, judges, coaches, and esteemed guests, including Shri Manoj Mishra, Organizing Secretary PEFI and the renowned south film hero, Shri Suman Talwar, who graced the occasion, adding to the grandeur of the celebration.
