‘Sangathan-2026′ 27th Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet Kicks Off at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus

Noida: “Sangathan-2026”, the 27th Inter Amity Institutions Sports Meet, was inaugurated at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida campus, with great enthusiasm. During Sangathan-2026, students from Amity campuses across India and abroad will participate in around 18 sports games including hockey, football, cricket, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, kho-kho, badminton, table tennis, chess, swimming, yoga and karate amongst others. The month-long event culminates with the celebration of Founder’s Day, observed to commemorate the Birthday of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group.

The Inaugural Ceremony commenced with the lighting of the “Sangathan Mashaal”, which was simultaneously lit in all Amity Campuses, followed by the Mashaal Relay, flagged off by Prof (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Noida. The Mashaal, was taken through Amity International School Noida, Amity University Greater Noida Campus and finally placed back at the Amity Noida Campus. In addition, the Sangathan Flag was hoisted by Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor Amity University, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University, Mr. Abhay Chauhan, Senior Vice President-RBEF, and Mr. Amol Chauhan, Executive Director – Strategic Operations(FPO). On this occasion, a March Past by the captains of various teams, and flag bearers was conducted. An oath by the sports captain of last year’s winning team was also administered on behalf of all the participants, during the Inaugural Ceremony.

Motivating the students, Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University, averred, “Sangathan is the most cherished event at Amity which inculcates the spirit of friendship, unity, sportsmanship, camaraderie, discipline, dedication and hard work amongst the students. Nothing is more important for us than students’ success and happiness and Amity is the only University in the world which has introduced a unique initiative, “Amity Boundless”, under which students can choose from over 100 minor courses across more than 80 disciplines.” He announced that a new Student Center with the most advanced facilities is being built at Amity which will be ready for the students by the end of the year.

Encouraging the students, Mr. Abhay Chauhan, Senior Vice President-RBEF, stated, “Every student has the potential to become a change-maker, and create a meaningful impact on the society. Sports play a vital role in developing this potential by nurturing qualities such as grit, perseverance, discipline and teamwork. They instil passion, courage and a never-give-up attitude, enabling students to face challenges with confidence, resilience and determination. The lessons learnt on the field go far beyond sports and help young individuals become stronger, more responsible and capable of overcoming obstacles in both their personal and professional lives.”

Addressing the participants, Mr. Amol Chauhan, Executive Director – Strategic Operations (FPO), said, “Sports teaches the students what they do not learn in classrooms, including leadership, courage, passion, determination, hard work, strategy and resilience. It makes them strong mentally and physically and prepares them for challenges. No work is too small, and sportsmen must be willing to do the smallest work which is in the interest of their team. The team is always bigger than the player and one must always bear in mind that they are playing for their team. Leadership is a service and sports persons should serve their team in every possible way.”

Emphasizing upon the significance of Sangathan, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, noted, “Sangathan is the most widely recognized event, which is remembered by our Alumni, across the world. The vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 can only be fulfilled if the youth of the country is physically fit and healthy so that they can represent their country in various sports tournaments at national and international level.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal, Additional Pro Vice Chancellor- AUUP & Chairman-Sangathan-2026, said, “Sports develops the qualities of patience, resilience, team spirit and hard work. Sangathan, is one of the most important events for the holistic development of the students which provides them with an opportunity to develop their skills and abilities.”

The Inaugural Ceremony of Sangathan-2026 concluded with a friendly Table Tennis Match between Amity School of Engineering & Technology and Amity Institute of Biotechnology. Also present on the occasion were the HOIs, Deans, HODs, faculty, staff and students of Amity.
