New Delhi: Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, President, All India Council of Sports congratulated the Indian Contingent going to the Tokyo Olympics and sends his greetings. He said that “I am sure all the athletes will give their best in the Olympics”.

Many athletes have delivered their best performance in the Olympic Qualifier competitions and hope that they will continue their performance in the Olympics and make the country proud, Prof. Malhotra said.

Prof. Malhotra said that the entire world has been suffering for more than a year due the COVID pandemic. Due to this, the Tokyo Olympics also had to be postponed for a year, which is now finally starting from 23 July in Tokyo, Japan. COVID pandemic has had a far more adverse effect on sports than on any other field. Due to the pandemic athletes got very less time for practice and training. Many athletes were hit by COVID and odd conditions during this period have had an adverse effect on the morale of the players. But I am proud that Indian athletes managed to overcome bravely and qualified for Tokyo Olympics keeping their morale up, Prof. Malhotra said.

Prof. Malhotra said that Sports teaches us that one should not give up against unfavourable situations, but should move ahead in life by conquering them boldly. The courage shown by our athletes during the pandemic will also encourage people from other fields to fight bravely against any complicated situation.

I am sure that the Indian athletes will bring glory to the country by performing brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics, best wishes and good luck to Indian Contingent, Prof. Malhotra said.
