Jalandhar, 30 October 2026:  Indian men’s hockey team forward Abhishek achieved a significant career milestone on Friday as he completed 150 senior international caps during India’s third league-stage match against Japan in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026 at Jalandhar’s Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium.

Ahead of the match, Shri Bhola Nath Singh, Vice President of the Asian Hockey Federation and Secretary General of Hockey India, presented Abhishek with a commemorative jersey. The striker also received a special stick on the occasion from Shri Satinder Singh, IPS — Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar.

Since making his senior international debut in 2022, Abhishek has established himself as an important attacking presence in the Indian team, contributing with his pace, movement and goal-scoring ability. His progress has coincided with a successful period for Indian hockey, with the forward playing his part in several major international campaigns.

Among the highlights of Abhishek’s career are bronze medal-winning performances at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and gold medals at the Hangzhou 2023 and Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. He was also part of the Indian team that won gold at the Asia Cup in Rajgir in 2025 and the Asian Champions Trophy in Hulunbuir in 2024.

In addition, the 27-year-old Abhishek has represented India at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where the team secured the silver medal. These achievements underline his contribution to India’s success across multiple international competitions in a relatively short span of his senior career.

Recognising his achievements and contribution to Indian sport, Abhishek was conferred the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2024, one of the country’s highest sporting honours.

Reaching the 150-cap milestone at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026, being played in the hockey-loving state of Punjab, adds another memorable chapter to the forward’s international journey.

“Congratulations to Abhishek on completing 150 senior international caps for India,” said Hockey India’s President, Dr Dilip Tirkey. “His journey since making his debut in 2022 reflects his dedication, hard work and commitment to the team. I wish him continued success in the years ahead.”

Hockey India’s Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh also lauded Abhishek’s contribution to the team’s success. “Abhishek reaching the 150-cap milestone is a proud moment for Indian hockey. His performances across major international tournaments demonstrate his ability and determination to deliver for the country. Winning medals at the Olympics and Asian Games is a remarkable achievement, and I congratulate him on this milestone and wish him the very best,” said the Secretary General.
