India to host Asian Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls Fencing Championships 2023

Dubai, UAE: Fencing Association of India made a successful bid to host the Asian Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls Fencing Championships 2023 during the Annual General Body Meeting of Fencing Confederation of Asia held at Hamdan Sports Complex, Dubai, UAE on 03-04-2022.

 

Fencing Association of India bid for organizing the Asian Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls was by submitted Shri Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, Fencing Association of India and the same was unanimously passed in favour of India to organize the Asian Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls Fencing Championships in the year 2023.

Our fencers in Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls category are performing well at Asian level and hosting of these championships will help them to gain much needed exposure. This is first, but important step towards hosting the bigger competitions in future in India. FAII will ensure that Asian Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls Fencing Championships 2023 will be hosted at par with world standard. Fencing Association of India will be hosting the Asian Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls Fencing Championships 2023 in India. The host city will be Ahmedabad (Gujarat) . These two championships will take place in the month of March / April 2023. This has been confirmed by Shri Rajeev Mehta, Secretary General, Fencing Association of India who was present in the Annual General Body Meeting of Fencing Confederation of Asia at Dubai, UAE on 03-04-2022.

It is important to mention that this is the first-time rights to bid the above fencing championships of that magnitude are given to India. The championships will be represented by countries of Asia and approximately 1200 fencers from 20 to 25 countries are likely to take part in Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls category each. According to Mehta, “our fencers in Junior (U-20) Men & Women and Cadet (U-17) Boys & Girls category are performing well at Asian level and hosting of these championships will help them to gain much needed exposure.
