Orchid Club wins Delhi State Senior Korfball Crown

New Delhi: Orchid Club has won’t the crown of 2nd Delhi State Senior Korfball Championship 2022. Championship was organised by Delhi Amateur Korfball Association (Korfball Delhi) at Bharat National Public School, Ram Vihar. A total of 8 teams of various academies and schools took part.

Guest of Honour of the opening ceremony, Ms. Arti Khungar (Principal – HES) and Mr. Rakesh Thapliyal (Editor-in-Chief, khel Today Magazine and Website: www.kheltoday.com) with the teams.

The championship ended with results given below:

Final Standing:

1st Position:     Orchid Club

2nd Position:     Playernity Club

3rd Postion:     Manvians

Championship was conducted on league cum knock out format and the teams were divided in two pools where each team got 3 matches to show their talent. This brought out the competitive spirit in all of them!

Ms. Arti Khungar (Principal – HES) and Mr. Rakesh Thapliyal (Editor-in-Chief, khel Today Magazine and Website: www.kheltoday.com) were the Guests of Honour in the opening ceremony. Both praised the efforts made by Korfball Delhi to promote the game.

Mr. Himanshu Nath Mishra (President – Korfball Federation of India) was the Chief Guest of the championship and gave away the winning trophies and medals to all the position holder teams.

There were a lot of spectators cheering on their teams since it is exciting to watch friends play and compete against each other. The court was noisy but fantastic. The atmosphere was electric with the cheers of the players and parents along with the enthusiasm of the participants. 

The games were exhilarating and everybody enjoyed themselves thoroughly. We witnessed good sportsmanship by all the players, which was the best part of the event. 

The players were shortlisted during the competition for the upcoming 34th Senior National Korfball Championship 2022 which is scheduled to be held in Solan (Himachal Pradesh) from 01st – 04th September 2022.

Mr. Anil Kumar (Treasurer) and Mr. Saurabh Sharma (Jt. Secretary) of Delhi Amateur Korfball Association (Korfball Delhi) office bearers were present during the championship.

In the later stage of championship Mr. Kanwaljeet Khungar (Principal – Bharat National Public School) and Mr. Virender Singh Jaggi (Associate Professor – Shyam Lal College) graced the event and motivated the players.

 Mr. Anil Kumar, Organizing Secretary, maintained tempo of the event throughout. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Ravi Raj, General Secretary, Delhi Amateur Korfball Association (Korfball Delhi). He said “congratulations to all the Winners of Championship for a brilliant game with good team spirit! Kudos to the entire organizing committee for concluding a successful event.”
