New Delhi: The Chero Archers got the win they needed on the last day of the Archery Premier League’s (APL) round-robin stage to join the Rajputana Royals, Mighty Marathas and the Prithiviraaj Yodhas as the four semi-finalists of the inaugural season being held here at the Yamuna Sports Complex.

The conclusion of the league phase also had the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, gracing the occasion.

The Chero Archers needed an outright win to knock out Chola Chiefs and Kakatiya Knights from the race to semis, and they achieved it with a hard-fought 5-3 triumph against the table-toppers and in-form Royals.

It took Archers’ tally to 8 points, and the outright nature of the win made the remaining two matches on the penultimate day of the APL inconsequential.

The Chiefs hammered the Yodhas comprehensively with a 6-0 margin in the last match of Day 10, after the Knights succumbed to their eighth defeat, losing to the Marathas 2-6.

By virtue of topping the table with 16 points from eight wins, the Royals will face the fourth-placed Chero Archers in the first semi-final on Sunday. The other semi-final will be contested between the Marathas, who finished second with 14 points from seven wins, and the Yodhas, who stood third on the table with 10 points from five wins.

The final will be played on Sunday.
