New Delhi: Saniya, a 1st year student from B.Led department, has won the LSR annual run.

The annual run with over 650 participants was organized by the Department of Physical Education of Lady Shri Ram College. The run started from the LSR cafe and ended at the Volleyball court of the college.

The top three runners: 

🥇Saniya 1st year from B.Led department was the winner of the run.

🥈Vedika Gulia from the Political Science department placed 2nd .

🥉Khushi Burdak from the English department came in 3rd.

The race was flagged off by  guests of honour Mr. Abhinav Chaturvedi, a former cricketer, actor and sports commentator, Ms. Anjali Bharadwaj, the founding member of ‘Satark Nagrik Sangathan’ and a distinguished alumni of the college, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, an additional district judge (NDPS) in Mathura, Ms. Garvita who’s a national tennis player and a former general secretary of the sports union of LSR along with Dr. Suman Sharma, principal of the college and Dr.Meenakshi Pahuja head of department of physical education and sports.

The theme for this year was ‘Stride for Safety: Women United’ which was a necessary cause to have been voiced, especially in today’s time when women face numerous challenges, students of LSR became a platform and a means of expression for women today. Participants gathered in large numbers for this cause covering a distance of over 3km.

The event concluded with the award distribution ceremony and complimentary regards from the Guests of honour. Mr. Abhinav mentioned in his speech how one should be resilient and goal oriented in whatever they do and that he was fascinated by the culture and zeal of Lady Shri Ram college and its students, he said “If women are safe in this country the world is going to recognise their power and we as citizens of India have a responsibility to keep our women safe”. Mr. Pradeep enlightened the students on judicial reforms for women’s safety and how it is a collective responsibility of our society to ensure justice and equality, he also expressed his gratitude to have met such enthusiastic and excited children and how physical wellbeing is the most vital. Ms. Anjali Bhardwaj congratulated the students on a successful run and how the issue and subject of women’s safety is in our own hands. Ms. Garvita reminded us of how LSR is one of the best platforms a woman can voice herself, she said “I know how difficult it is to organise these kinds of events and I want the students especially to know that they did a great job”.

Dr.Meenakshi Pahuja the head of Physical Education and Sports expressed her happiness over this mass participation event which gives a platform to students to come together to run for a cause and show spirit for leadership roles, The Sports President, Vipassana said and I quote “As the Sports President at LSR, I believe it is crucial to amplify the voices of women and advocate for a safer society for all. Organizing a LSR Annual Run, specifically the 2025 edition of the LSR Annual Run, presents a meaningful and proactive platform to express our concerns and put forward our suggestions for positive change”.

The run was fascinating to watch as students showcased much enthusiasm towards fitness and awareness for the theme, stride for safety: women united.
