Kolkata: Hockey India President and former India Men’s Hockey Team Captain Dr. Dilip Tirkey was honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the Calcutta Sports Journalists’ Club (CSJC) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian sports.

The prestigious award was presented to Dr. Tirkey by former BCCI president and Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly in Kolkata.

A stalwart of Indian hockey, Dr. Tirkey represented the country in record 412 international matches, including three Olympic Games (1996, 2000, 2004), and is widely regarded as one of India’s finest defenders. Since taking charge as President of Hockey India, he has been instrumental in driving several developmental and structural reforms aimed at elevating Indian hockey to greater heights.

Dr. Tirkey wrote on X “Truly Honoured 🙏 Grateful to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Calcutta Sports Journalists’ Club for my contribution to Indian hockey.
A proud moment to be felicitated by legends.”
