Lucknow: A proud moment for the state-of-the-art Yonex-Sunrise Uttar Pradesh Badminton Academy (UPBA) as its trainee Sonali Singh (ranked 158 in the world as per BWF ranking), alongside partner Amrutha Pranuthesh, emerged victorious in the doubles category at the prestigious Yonex-Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Tournament, held in Hyderabad.

The duo displayed remarkable synergy, resilience, and tactical brilliance throughout the tournament, securing the title in a fiercely competitive field that featured top talent from across the country. In a thrilling final, Sonali Singh and Amrutha Pratmesh defeated  formidable pair of Diya Bheemaiah and Baruni Parshwa 12-21, 22-20, 12-21. Their resilience, strategic gameplay, and seamless coordination secured them the top spot, marking a significant milestone in their careers and reinforcing the academy’s reputation for nurturing elite athletes.

Sonali, who has been training for the past 10 years credited her win to the consistent support of her coaches and the strong bond with her partner. “Winning this title means a lot to me. Amrutha and I trusted each other and played with heart. The support from my coaches at UPBA and the facilities at BBD have played a crucial role in helping me grow as an athlete. This is just the beginning, and I ’m excited for what’s ahead. The ultimate goal is to represent my country at the Olympics,” said Sonali Singh after the final.

This victory not only adds another feather to Sonali’s cap but also underscores the growing impact of grassroots development programs and institutional support in shaping India’s next generation of badminton stars.
