New Delhi:  Dayal Opticals scripted a wire-t-wire-win, beating Legends 9 in 6 out of 6 games on day-9 of the Fourth Edition of the Lloyd Delhi Golf Club League powered by Radico’. Bliss Golfers won 4-1.

In what was the fourth match of the day, Dayal Opticals hit the ground running with Dilsher Singh Dhingra and Sanjay Kohli beating Ritika Modi and Rishabh Soni of Legends 9 in the first game.  Thereafter Dayal Opticals were unstoppable, going on to win the remaining five games on the trot.  Both owners, Sidhant Kalra and Sarvash Kalra contributed to Dayal’s with Sidhant and Kartikeya Nahar winning by a 5&3 margin in the third game and Sarvash and Fateh Singh winning by a 5&4 margin in the fifth game.  This win earned Dayal Opticals 3 vital points.

In the opening match of the day, Deutsche Motoren beat Baale Golf 4-0.  For Deutsche Motoren, Vikram Malhotra teamed up with Ajay Khanna to win to beat former professional golfer Mehar Atwal and Baale Golf owner Ashwin Chandiok.  The second game was tied and Deutsche Motoren went on to win the third game before tying the fourth. Not giving Baale Golf any breathing space, Deutsche Motoren went on to win the fifth and sixth games to bag 3 vital points.

In the second match of the day between Bliss Golfers and Bharat Strikers, Pranav Khanna and Gaurav Monga of Bliss Golfers, beat Gp.. Capt. Sanjay Chauhan and Arvind Hoon to go one up early on.  Post a tied second game, Bharat Strikes came back to level scores with a win in the third.  Bliss Golfers nullified this advantage by winning the fourth and fifth games and post a tied final game, Bliss Golfers registered a 3-1 win to bag 3 points.

In the third match between Birdie Machine and Sudhir Power, Birdie Machine dominated to win 5-1.  Ironically, it was Sudhir Power who drew first blood, winning the first game aided by Amarinder Pal Singh and Armaan Malhotra holding their nerve in a close fought contest against Sanjoi Singh and Kabir Advani.   Thereafter, Birdie Machine pulled themselves together to win all the remining games to bag 3 points.

In the final match of the day between Royal Ranthambore Athletic Drive and The Pioneers, Royal Ranthambore Athletic Drive won the opening game thanks to a splendid effort by Bikkrama Daulet Singh and Bismad Singh who beat Kamini Gupta and Rajan Gupta of The Pioneers.  Continuing in the same vein, Royal Ranthambore Athletic Drive won the second game but The Pioneers were led to victory in the third game by their Owners, Rishabh and Manish Periwal.  The fourth game was tied as was the final game to leave the two teams tied at 2-2 with the fifth game still in play.  This was tied and tams finished at 2-2.

The League is being played on a four-ball better ball Matchplay Format and over two stages – a Round Robin stage followed by a Knock-out stage. During each playoff match between two teams in the Round Robin stage, each team will field 6 pairs (12 players). One pair from each team will play against a pair from the other team in the above-mentioned format, with all the players playing off 90% of their original handicaps. The teams will get points for their wins. The 24 teams have been divided into 4 groups. After the Round Robin stage, during which the teams from one group will compete against each other. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Knock-out stage starting with the Quarter-finals. In the Knock-out Stage the matches between two teams will be contested by seven  pairs (14 players). The Finals, as mentioned earlier, will be played on 26th October, 2024.
