Dayal Opticals win five in a row to beat Eagles & Birdies at DGC Members League

NEW DELHI: Dayal Opticals won five games in a row to beat Eagles & Birdies and inch closer to a quarter-final spot on Day-10 of the Delhi Golf Club Members League – powered by RADICO’ at the historic Delhi Golf Club here today.

In the third game of the day, Dayal Opticals clashed with Eagles & Birdies. Dayal Opticals started off with a win in the first game. Eagles & Birdies returned the favour in the second. Thereafter, however, stepping on the gas. Dayal Opticals went on to register wins in each of the remaining five games to pocket 12 crucial points. Eagles & Birdies managed only 2 points today.

In the opening match of the day between Athletic Drive and Bajaj Foundation, the first game was tied, but Athletic Drive came back to win, the second and third games. Bajaj Foundation won the fourth game. Athletic Drive came back with a bang to win the fifth and sixth games. A win in the final game of the day, was but a consolation prize for Bajaj Foundation. Athletic Drive pocketed 9 points for their effort while Bajaj Foundation could take home only 5 points.

The second match of the day between MMG Coca- Cola and Legends 9 saw MMG Coca-Cola win the first game. Legends 9 came back to level scores on the second game. This cat and mouse chase continued for two more games with MMG Coca-Cola winning the third and Legends 9 the fourth game. MMG Coca-Cola then registered back to back wins in the fifth and sixth games. Legends 9 won the final game of the day but this could fetch them only 6 points as against MMG Coca- Cola’s tally of 8 points.

In the fourth match of the day between 24 Lions and Shiva Mahindra, 24 Lions won the first two games. Shiva Mahindra returned the favour with wins in the third and fourth. Thereafter there was no looking back for 24 Lions as they romped home to wins in the remainder of the three games. 24 Lions tallied 10 vital points while Shiva Mahindra had to settle for 4 points.

The final match of the day between Deutsche Motoren and Sara X Golf Code saw Deutsche Motoren win the first two games. Sara came back strongly to win the third and fourth. Deutsche Motoren registered a win on the fifth and the sixth game was tied. Sara X Golf Code had their task cut out. They had to win the seventh game to tie. This they managed in style. Both teams tallied 7 points apiece.
