‘Swinging Shers’ lift Qutab Golf League Trophy

New Delhi: Team ‘Swinging Shers’ emerged overall Champions of the Inaugural Qutab Golf League staged at the par-70, Qutab Golf Course with an impressive final round performance in which they tallied 410 Stableford points to accumulate a League winning total of 1041 Stableford points.

In the final round, each team was represented by 12 players and all their stableford points, scored on 75% of their full handicaps, were counted to determine the team total for the day. This was added to the scores which the teams brought in during the first two rounds, during which 9 of the best scores, from amongst the 12 who played, were counted.

Team ‘Casual Gurus’, who brought in a total of 404 points in the final round, finished second with 1013 Stableford Points.  ‘Skullcandy Icons’ finished third with a tally of 995 points courtesy a final round effort which yielded 381 points.

‘Swinging Shers’ pocketed Rs 12 lakhs for the effort while ‘Casual Gurus’ took home Rs 8 lakhs for finishing second.

In the ‘Individual Category’, Yuvraj Sodhi of ‘Casual Gurus’ bagged top honours with 40 stableford points, while Raunik Kharkwal of ‘Ishum Eagles’ finished runner-up with the same score, narrowly missing out on a count back.

In the ‘Ladies’ category, Sunaina Gera of ‘Victorious Choice’ emerged the winner with 37 points, while Aryaveer Khoda of ‘Mighty Pathans’ annexed the crown in the ‘Junior’ category with 40 points.  AS Pasricha of ‘Golf Spartans’, with 34 points won in the ‘Senior’ category.  Gaurav Chaturvedi of ‘Swinging Shers’ with 37 points and Pushpinder Rathore of ‘Golf Spartans’ with 39 points won in the ‘Armed Forces’ and ‘Government’ categories respectively.

 

The League was played in a Team Championship Format with 10 teams contesting.  Each team comprised 16 players, 12 of whom were picked by the Owner and the remaining four were procured through an Auction. Thus a total of 160 players contested in the inaugural Qutab Golf League 2025.

The inclusive structure of the League provided every category of golfer with an opportunity to compete.  The 12 owner picks included:

  1. a)     2 Ladies
  2. b)    1 Junior (under 18 years of age)
  3. c)     1 Senior (above 65 years of age)
  4. d)    1 Government Official (IAS, IFS, IPS, Government Employees both serving and retired)
  5. e)    1 Armed Officer (from the Army, Navy, Air Force, CRPF, other Military Services – both

serving and retired)

 

 

A brainchild of Game of Life Sports (GOLS) promoted by Amit Kharbanda and Samant Sikka, QGL was conceptualised with an objective of creating one of the most exciting and enjoyable Golf Leagues in India. To deliver on this objective, they entered into a partnership with Digraj Golf Inc. (DGI) who have successfully curated and delivered other quality Leagues in India. The League in its inaugural year comprised of 3 playing days, 2 knowledge sharing masterclasses and several entertaining social evenings.

The Two organisers GOLS and DGI, were ably guided in their vision and structuring by Apex Council members D Sarkar, former commissioner of sports for DDA and Wg Cdr Arun Singh (Retd), who is the President of the Golf Course Superintendents and Managers Association of India and also the Ex DG of the Indian Golf Union.

The 10 teams participating in the league were Casual Gurus, Golf Spartans, Ishum Eagles, Mighty Pathaans, Nuts for Us, Pars Excellence, PPGA Falcons, Skullcandy Icons, Swinging Shers and Victorious Choice.

Sponsors who came forth to support the league were MG Motors, Shudhee, Asia Spa Resort, Talisman, The Amber Vermont Estate, Chimmys, Wild Vitamin Drink, Kairali, Styzen, Miam, Jack Daniels, Joe’s Craft, Sobha, Metro Hospitals and Golf Plus as the official Golf Magazine.

In a glittering Prize Distribution ceremony during which the Legendary Band “Indian Ocean” performed, the Championship Trophy for the Winning Team was given away by Chief Guest,  VC DDA, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh. The other Prize Presenters included Principal Commissioner DDA Mr. Chitaranjan Dash, Commissioner Sports DDA, Mr. Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman and other sponsors.
