India crush Kazakhstan 15-0 to Top Pool A in Asia Cup Hockey

India and China from Pool A and Malaysia and Korea from Pool B have qualified for Super 4s.

Rajgir, Bihar: A rampant Indian side went on a goal spree and demolished Kazakhstan 15-0 in their final Pool A match at the 2025 Men’s Hero Asia Cup Hockey in Rajgir. The emphatic win helped India secure the top position in their group and marched into the Super 4s with an all-win record. The 15-0 win for the Indians was the second result with a similar score line, as the Malaysians beat Chinese Taipei 15-0.

In the other matches South Korea crushed Bangladesh 5-1 and China Taipei 15-0 and China drew with Japan 2-2.

India and China from Pool A and Malaysia and Korea from Pool B have qualified for Super 4s.

Forward Abhishek led the scoring spree with four goals (5’, 8’, 20’, 59’), showcasing a fine blend of speed, skill, and accuracy.

He was ably supported by Sukhjeet Singh and Jugraj Singh, both of whom logged hat-tricks to complete a memorable outing for the Indians.

By halftime, the scoreboard read 7-0 for India. They carried on the dominance in the second half.

Harmanpreet Singh (26’), Amit Rohidas (29’), Rajinder Singh (32’), Sanjay (54’), and Dilpreet Singh (55’) also found their names on the scoresheet, contributing to one of India’s biggest wins in recent years. Kazakhstan struggled all through.

India will now shift focus to the Super 4s, where consistency and composure will be key as they eye a spot in the Asia Cup final and, ultimately, qualification for the 2026 FIH World Cup.

This result capped a flawless group stage campaign for India — three wins, 28 goals scored, none conceded.

South Korea Crush Bangladesh 5–1

South Korea crushed Bangladesh 5–1 in their Pool B match at the Hero Men’s Asia Cup 2025 to book their place in the Super 4s.

The defending champions took early control of the match and never let go off the pressure.

South Korea’s Dain Son struck twice in quick succession—first in the 9th minute, then again in the 11th from a penalty corner—handing his team a 2–0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The momentum continued in the second quarter. Seungwoo Lee, impressed and added a third in the 16th minute, followed closely by Seyong Oh making it 4–0 in the 22nd minute. That almost sealed the verdict.

Bangladesh responded immediately when Shohanur  Sobuj converted a penalty corner in the same 22nd minute, giving them some consolation.

The third quarter saw no further changes to the scoreboard as Bangladesh’s defense held firm.

In the dying moments, South Korea sealed a comprehensive victory as Jihun Yang converted a penalty stroke in the 60th minute to make the final scoreline 5–1.

South Korea strengthens its position atop Pool  B and advances to the Super 4s as Bangladesh exited the race for the top four.

Malaysia overwhelm Chinese Taipei 15–0

Malaysia delivered the biggest win so far of 2025 Hero Asia Cup demolishing Chinese Taipei 15–0 in their final Pool B match.

The win capped off their group-stage campaign, with Malaysia finishing top of the pool with a flawless record of three wins. Chinese Taipei were eliminated from Super 4 contention.

From the opening whistle, the Malaysian offense went all out. Akhimullah Anuar Essok was the star of the show, netting five goals with dazzling skill and precision. His performance, including a penalty-stroke conversion, underscored his finishing prowess.

Not far behind, Ashran Hamsani contributed massively with four goals of his own. Meanwhile, Norsyafiq Sumantri added three goals, weaving through the defense with ease and finishing cleanly.

Support came from Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal, Andywalfian Jeffrynus, and Nik Mohd Aiman Nik Rozemi, each finding the scoresheet once to put the contest firmly out of reach.

China secure Super 4 spot with a draw against Japan

China and Japan played out an tense 2–2 draw that sent both teams through to the Super 4 stages of the tournament. China needed a draw to progress and Japan needed a win. So, China went ahead as the second team from group A, which was topped by India.

China drew first blood in the 7th minute when Lin Changliang exploited a gap in Japan’s defense to fire home a well-constructed field goal, giving them an early 1–0 advantage.

Entering the second quarter, China struck again in the 25th minute through a superb team move and scored through Zhang Xiaojia.

Japan’s persistence paid off in the 28th minute when Kazumasa Matsumoto scored their first goal. Matsumoto scored again in the 50th minute to secure a draw.
