Farid Ali wins gold in new 25 meter pistol event held first time in Delhi State Shooting; Jaspal Rana gets silver

New Delhi: Governing body members of Delhi State Rifle Association Farid Ali has won gold medal in the new 25 meter pistol event held first time in Delhi State Shooting championship. Former star shooter and now coach, Jaspal Rana gets silver in the same event.

This time a special event was held in the 40th Delhi State Shooting Competition held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range of the capital. In this new 25 meter pistol competition, a series of many different events were combined together. Governing body members of Delhi State Rifle Association participated in this special competition organized for the first time.

 

Governing body member journalist Farid Ali won the tough competition with DSRA Chairman, famous shooter Padmashree Jaspal Rana. Farid won the gold medal with 325 points, Jaspal Rana got the silver medal with a score of 321, while the treasurer of the Association, Rajiv Sharma got the bronze medal with a score of 288 points.

Secretary of Delhi State Rifle Association, Akshay Kumar Anand said that the idea of this new event was of Chairman Jaspal Rana, it was a new experience and it was a lot of fun. It is being considered that we will take it forward as a new event. Even though this event may not have national-international level competitions. But it is certain that this will give new experience to the shooters and increase their confidence.

DSRA Joint Secretary Ishvinderjit Singh said that after the success of Indian shooters in the Olympics, the craze of shooting has increased a lot across the country. The youth of Delhi have also become interested in this sport, this time a record 1300 shooters have participated for the first time in the rifle, pistol and shotgun events in the Delhi State Shooting Championship. Indian shooters won 3 medals in Paris Olympics-2024. Manu Bhaker won two medals in 10 meter pistol and air pistol mixed event.
