New Delhi: The 24th Delhi State Inter-School Shooting Championship, held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi, concluded with record participation.

Delhi State Rifle Association organized this shooting competition. Justice Manmohan Sarin and Delhi’s Election Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Srivastava honoured medal winners and also told all the budding shooters, the tricks of success.

Congratulating the medal winners, Justice Manmohan Sarin boosted the morale of the fourth and fifth ranked shooters who missed out on winning medals by a small margin.

Delhi Election Commissioner S.K. Shrivastava also threw light on the importance of sports and said that “Sports teaches us to stay healthy as well as face defeat in life and also how to prepare for victory after defeat. He said that shooting is a game of concentration. In which India’s young shooters are performing well.”

Jaspal Singh Marwah, treasurer of the Delhi State Rifle Association, said that “This time more than three hundred school students of the capital have participated in the Delhi State Inter-School Shooting Championship, which is a record in itself. Due to the Corona epidemic last year, this match could not take place. There is still a fear of Corona among people, but we have organized the competition here following all the rules and covid-19 protocols.

According to Farid Ali, Joint Secretary, Delhi State Rifle Association,  in the 10m Rifle (ISSF) Youth Women event, Mansi won the gold medal with a score of 613.6 points, Heer Sharma won the silver medal with a score of 610.2 points, and Sohni Gujral won the bronze medal with a score of 605.6. In the youth men’s match of this event, Pratyush Aman Barik won the gold medal with a score of 620.7, Garvit Sehrawat scored 613.4 to win Silver and Varchasva Gupta won bronze medal with a score of 609.2 points.

In the 10m Pistol (NR) Youth Men event, Jasvir Singh Sahni scored 376 points to win the Gold, Yoganshu Gulia won the silver medal with a score of 367 points and Anuj Singh Rajput also scored 367 but He had to be content with the bronze medal.

In the 10m Pistol (ISSF) Youth Women event, Parisha Gupta won the gold medal with a score of 555 points, Nayasha Rana won the silver medal with 540 points and Aditi Sejwal gave a tough fight with a score of 539 points but got the bronze. In the sub youth category of this event Tejeshwari Rana won the gold medal by scoring 545 points, Prarthana Khanna won the silver medal with 538 points and Meenal Yadav won the bronze medal with a score of 533.

In the 10m Pistol (ISSF) Youth Men event, Rayirth Rai won the gold medal by securing 561 points, Jayishnu Kaushik also scored equally but had to satisfy the silver medal, Dhruv Bhatia won the bronze medal with 558 points. In the sub-youth category of the event, Kaushal Singh won the gold medal with a score of 561 points, Shivanand Sagar (558) won the silver medal and Abhishek Nagar (556) won the bronze medal.
