New Delhi: It was an evening to remember renowned Journalist Kalyan Barooah, who died in the second wave of Corona. Press Club of India organized  Chess and Carrom tournaments in his memory. KVNSS Surya and Arun Gandhi emerged champions in the first Kalyan Barooah memorial Chess and Carrom tournaments respectively.

Shri Gaurav Gogoi, member of Parliament from Assam and Deputy leader of Congress in Loksabha, gave away the Trophies, Medals and Cash awards to the outstanding players. Shri Gogoi, while remembering many meetings with late Kalyan Barooah, said “He was a gem of a person who was a well known Journalist in the North-East region with his brilliant reporting. I am happy that Press Club of India has organized Chess and Carrom tournament in his memory and invited me for the prize distribution ceremony. I am ready to provide some help in organizing this event in the future.”

Shri Umakant Lakhera, President, Press Club of India and Shri Vinay Kumar, General Secretary, welcomed Shri Gogoi and thanked him for his kind words and willingness to help in organizing this tournament in the future.
