New Delhi: Lucknow’s Arnavi Pathak and Aligarh’s Ateeq Ahmed have won two titles each in the Sub-Junior (Under-13) Uttar Pradesh State Badminton Championship 2024 at Lucknow.

In the hard fought girls’ singles final Lucknow’s Arnavi Pathak defeated Noida’s Vanya Chaudhary 25-23, 19-21, 21-18 in three games. Aligarh’s Ateeq Ahmed secured the boys’ singles title by easily defeating Ankur Pratap Singh (Agra) 21-11, 21-13.

In the girl’s doubles final, Arnavi Pathak (Lucknow) and Manya Singh (Meerut) overcame Garvita Tripathi (Meerut) and Vanya Chaudhary (Meerut) in a close contest, winning 21-14, 23-25, 21-18. Meanwhile, in the boys’ doubles final, Ateeq Ahmed (Aligarh) and Ankur Pratap Singh (Agra) defeated Kushagra Dwivedi (Lucknow) and Shivesh Gupta (Prayagraj) comfortably, 21-17, 21-13, to secure their doubles title.

The prize distribution ceremony saw the chief guest, Dr. Navneet Sehgal, IAS, President, UP Badminton Association and  Chairman of Prasar Bharati, Government of India and Dr. Sudharma Singh, Secretary, UP Badminton Association gave away medals, trophies, and cash prizes to the players.

The Best Player Award was presented to nine-year-old Riddhima Agarwal from Lucknow, who was honored with a trophy and medal. The Secretary of the Lucknow District Badminton Association, Mr. Anil Dhyani, expressed his gratitude to all players and guests.

Present at the event were chief referee Mr. Ravindra Chauhan, Dr. Yogesh Shetty, Abhijeet Yadav, and guests Mr. Arun Kumar Kakkad (Vice President, UP Badminton Association), along with other dignitaries.
