New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move to promote women’s basketball in India, Elite Pro Basketball has announced the launch of the Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League. The league aims to provide a platform for talented female athletes to showcase their skills and elevate the game of basketball in the country. With the vision of creating job opportunities for Indian youth and nurturing future Olympic gold medallists, the league is set to revolutionize the women’s basketball scene.

The try-outs for the Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League which took take place in Noida, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata. The event attracted top players from across the nation, as well as aspiring hoopsters eager to rub shoulders with some of the sport’s big names. Sunny Bhandarkar, the CEO of the Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League, expressed his enthusiasm for the endeavour.

“There are a lot of talented women’s basketball players in the country, and we wanted to provide a platform for these athletes to showcase their skills,” Bhandarkar stated. “There is no reason why women should be deprived of getting an opportunity to make their career by playing basketball. Our aim is to elevate the game of basketball in India and create job opportunities for the youth in India.”

Bhandarkar also highlighted the lack of opportunities previously available for basketball players in the country, emphasizing the importance of bridging this gap. He expressed pride in representing the vision of US investors who believe in India’s potential and harbour the ambition of seeing the nation achieve Olympic glory in basketball.

Supported by a group of investors from the United States of America, the Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League is set to be India’s first 5×5 Pro Basketball League exclusively for women. Comprising six teams featuring the most promising Indian players, the league promises to be a major stepping stone for aspiring professional basketball players in the country.

Over 250 registrations in Noida, Hyderabad and Mumbai saw 300 plus registration. Sunny Bhandarkar aims to provide opportunities for women basketball players to showcase their skills and secure a place in the biggest women’s basketball league ever organized in India.

The selection committee included esteemed coaches from India who will assess players based on their skills, adaptability to different teams and strategies, and overall performance.
Expressing his excitement for the upcoming try-outs, Sunny Bhandarkar remarked, “All the 4 try-outs have been a huge success, and ever since then, we have been getting constant enquiries about more try-outs. It is high time we have a league for women’s basketball in India. The idea is to give them a platform where they can showcase their skills with the objective of improving the game of basketball in India.”

With the Elite Women’s Pro Basketball League poised to open doors for talented athletes, the future of women’s basketball in India looks promising. Aspiring hoopsters now have a unique opportunity to make their mark in the sport and pursue their dreams of a professional basketball career.
