New Delhi: Life Insurance Corporation Of India emerged winner in the AIPS Chess Tournament. Reserve Bank Of India got the Runners-up trophy and Bank Of Baroda got third place.

Tournament is organized by All India Public Sector Sports Control Board from 22nd to 24th April, 2023 at Shillong. Ten teams from member Public Sector Undertakings consisting of 57 players participated in Tournament.

AIPS Chess Tournament attracts participation of leading players of the country have   represented their employer Public Sector company. Further, the upcoming Chess Players who are associated with the member PSUs by way of employment/ scholarship / contract get the much needed experience while playing with National & International players and get a platform to showcase their prowess.

The Closing ceremonies & prize distribution function was held at Hotel Pinewood on 24th April, 2023. Shri Dr. B.D.R.Tiwari, IAS – Commissioner & Secretary to the  Hon’ble Governor, Meghalaya was the Chief Guest.  Other dignitaries were Shri Gian Batra, General Secretary – All India Public Sector Sports Control Board, Shri Rishi Kant Bangwal, Airport Director, Shillong , Shri Ramesh Sachdeva, Consultant, All India Public Sector Sports Control Board and Shri Puranjan Das, Chief General Manager, State Convention Centre, Shillong.

Chess is one of the popular  game in which there is large participation from member organizations. The quality of the tournament is also very high in view of several  reputed national players  participate in it.

All India Public Sector Sports Control Board (AIPSSCB) established in the year 1987 is the apex body for conducting sports activities amongst Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Government Bodies , besides helping the sports persons to perform at National & International level by providing them required assistance through  member organizations . Leading Public Sector Undertakings like Airports Authority of India, , Oil India, Food Corporation of India, Life Insurance Corporation of India, BSNL, Air India, Canara Bank, Reserve Bank of India etc. who actively promote sports, are members of the AIPSSCB.   Currently 25 organizations are active members of the Board

 The Board through its member organizations has made phenomenal contribution towards the promotion of Sports in the country.  The contribution of AIPSSCB and its member organizations have been highlighed when nine (9) officers of ONGC and IOC were conferred with Arjuna and Dhyanchand  Awards for 2021

AIPSSCB organizes tournaments   in various sports disciplines such as  Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Carrom, Chess, Cricket, Football, Golf, Hockey, Kabaddi, Table Tennis and Volleyball at various  venues  in the country.

Award are also given ot the best undertakings every year on the occasion of AGM of the AIPSSCB.  In the Award Function which is graced by reading sportspersons  of the country.
