East Delhi Riders secure 52-run win over West Delhi Lions

New Delhi: East Delhi Riders continued their winning momentum by beating West Delhi Lions by 52 runs in the ongoing Adani Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing the target of 223, West Delhi Lions opened the innings with Krish Yadav and Ankit Kumar. East Delhi Riders broke the deadlock quickly as Krish was dismissed by Simarjeet Singh for 10 runs. The team got some stability as Ankit Kumar and Yugal Saini forged a 39-run partnership off 23 balls.

However, both got dismissed quickly as the team was left struggling at 54/3 in 6.1 overs.
Wickets continued to fall as Shivam Gupta was sent back to the pavilion. At half-way stage, West Delhi Lions were 83/4. West Delhi Lions struggled to keep up with the run rate. For East Delhi Riders, Simarjeet Singh, Harsh Tyagi and Mayank Rawat picked two wickets each.


Earlier in the contest, East Delhi Riders won the toss and elected to bat first. For East Delhi Riders, Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh opened the innings. The team got off to flying start as both took it to opposition bowling attack. At the end of the powerplay, East Delhi Riders were cruising at 54/0.

West Delhi Lions got their first breakthrough as Saksham Gahlot dismissed Sujal Singh for 43 runs in the eighth over. Anuj, who has been in sensational form reached his half-century in 27 balls. At the half-way stage, East Delhi Riders were 108/1.

Himmat Singh reached his half-century in 28 balls which included four boundaries and four sixes. He was dismissed soon as he was caught on boundary by Anmol Sharma off Akhil Chaudhary bowling.

Towards the end of the innings, East Delhi Riders lost wickets in quick succession as the team posted a total of 222/6 in their allotted 20 overs. For West Delhi Lions, Akhil Chaudhary was the pick of the bowler as he took 4/55.
