New Delhi:South Delhi Superstarz Women emerged victorious by 17 runs via the DLS method against Central Delhi Queens in the fifth match of the Adani Women’s Delhi Premier League T20 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday.

Vandana Chaturvedi’s 34 off 29 and Neha Chillar’s unbeaten cameo of 24 off 14 helped Central Delhi Queens post 127/7 in their 20 overs. In reply, the South Delhi Superstarz saw a guarded start from openers Shweta Sehrawat and Chhavi Gupta.

They kept the scoreboard ticking with timely boundaries and put up 71 runs after 10 overs. However, Gupta was dismissed in the following over after scoring 32 off 32 balls.

South Delhi Superstarz Women were cruising towards victory when rain halted play after 12 overs, with the team at 85/1. They were awarded the win via the DLS method as play could not resume within the cutoff time due to rain.

Earlier in the day, Central Delhi Queens got off to a steady start. While Vandana Chaturvedi took charge, Armeet Kaur played a supporting role, and together they put up a 50-run opening partnership. However, Central Delhi Queens lost wickets in quick succession as they were reduced to 63/3 at the halfway mark.

South Delhi Superstarz women then halted Central Delhi Queens’ momentum, as they took timely wickets in the following overs. Neha Chillar contributed a vital 24* off 14 in the final phase of the innings, guiding Central Delhi Queens to 127/7 in their 20 overs.

Tanisha Singh was the standout bowler as she returned with figures of 2/7 in her three overs, while Aarti Kumari, Medhavi Bidhuri, and Sumiti Soni took one wicket each.
