New Delhi: The much-awaited Delhi Premier League T20 Season 2 was officially declared open here on Saturday evening by Chief Minister of NCT Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta in presence of Former Union Cabinet Minister, Smriti Irani, Vice-President, Board of Cricket Control in India,  Rajiv Shukla, President, Delhi District Cricket Association Rohan Jaitley and Secretary, DDCA Ashok Sharma.

They all met captains of men and women teams and wished them good luck.

Speaking at the occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta  extended her best wishes to the participants and said, “I convey my heartfelt wishes to all the teams and players. May this tournament be a celebration of talent, teamwork, and sporting spirit. I look forward to witnessing some exciting cricket and hope the event inspires the youth of our city to pursue excellence in sports.”
DDCA President Rohan Jaitley said, “The second season of the Delhi Premier League officially begins today, and it marks another significant step forward in nurturing local cricketing talent. I extend my best wishes to all the teams and players participating this year. May the league continue to grow in stature and provide a strong platform for emerging stars to shine.”

DPL Season 2 was kicked off in the ‘Punjabi style’ with high voltage performances under dark clouds by Bollywood singer Raftaar, Rappers Seedhe Maut, KR$NA and Punjabi vocalist Sunanda Sharma at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The opening clash of DPL 2025 has set the tone for a thrilling season as South Delhi Superstarz started against defending champions, East Delhi Riders. The
Opening match started bit late because of rain.
During the league all eyes will be on star performers like Navdeep Saini, Anuj Rawat, Ayush Badoni and Digvesh Rathi.

The men’s final will be held on August 31, 2025, with September 1, 2025 reserved as a backup day in case of weather disruptions. The women’s competition will be held from August 17 to August 24, 2025, showcasing a week of exciting and competitive cricket. This season eight men’s teams and four women’s teams are taking part, with a strong emphasis on competitive balance, emerging talent, and fan engagement.
