New Delhi, August 16: Punjabi actress Hashneen Chauhan and director Rabby Tiwana brought a blend of cinema and cricket to the Arun Jaitley Stadium as they visited the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 to promote their upcoming Punjabi film Yaar Jigree, Kasooti Degree.

Speaking about her visit to Delhi, Hashneen Chauhan said the city holds a special place for people from Punjab, owing to the long-standing cultural connection between Punjab and Delhi. She said her visit to the Arun Jaitley Stadium was particularly memorable as it was her first time at the iconic venue.

“The environment here is very vibrant. As soon as we entered the stadium, the whole crowd was cheering and they got excited. We threw them T-shirts. That warm welcome was what made today’s day special,” Chauhan said.

The actress also revealed her interest in the Delhi Premier League and named Priyansh Arya as her favourite player in the tournament. She said she does not follow cricket extensively but was introduced to DPL by her father, who is an avid cricket fan. After watching a few matches featuring Arya, she said she liked his game and began following his performances.

Talking about international cricket, Chauhan named Shubman Gill as her favourite player. Highlighting the Punjab connection, she noted that Gill also hails from Punjab.

Chauhan also spoke about the growing relationship between cricket and entertainment, saying audiences enjoy seeing the two worlds come together. “Not only the cricketers and actors enjoy it, but the audience also loves to watch this merging of both the different fields and seeing them on one platform. It’s a beautiful collaboration,” she said, adding that she would love to see more such opportunities in the future.

Director Rabby Tiwana, meanwhile, spoke about the story and making of Yaar Jigree, Kasuti Degree, which expands on the world of the earlier series. The film follows six friends as they return to college after five years and encounter a very different campus environment. Their journey involves youth festivals, college scams, friendships and a mix of action, drama, emotions and comedy.

Tiwana explained that one of the biggest challenges was adapting the expansive storyline into a two-and-a-half to three-hour feature film. “Five stories are running simultaneously, and how we connected those stories with each other was a big challenge,” he said.55

The director also stressed that the film has been designed to appeal to both existing fans and newcomers. “Even if you haven’t seen the series, you can watch this movie. Those who haven’t seen it can watch it, and those who have seen it can enjoy it more,” Tiwana said.

He further praised the way the film brings together its past and present storylines, saying the characters loved by audiences in Seasons 1 and 2 continue to connect with a new generation of viewers.

Tiwana also spoke about his interest in the Delhi Premier League, naming Himmat Singh as one of his favourite players.
