New Delhi: A special postal cover, commemorating Sashtipoorthi of Shyam Lal College, was officially released by India Post on Friday at a gracious function held at Krishna Nagar Post Office.

The event was organized by India Post and was attended by Sh. Debi Prasad Dash, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Delhi East Division, Delhi, Prof. R.P. Tulsian, Governing Body Member of the Shyam Lal College, Prof. Rabi Narayan Kar-Principal, Shyam Lal College and other distinguished guests.

The release function was presided over by Prof. Rabi Narayan Kar and Sh. Debi Prasad Dash who unveiled the cover along with a commemorative cancellation that marks the historical importance of the occasion.

In his address, Prof. Kar highlighted the rich history of Shyam Lal College and also said that. “Special covers like these serve not only as collectibles but also as enduring symbols of our rich heritage,” he noted.

The design of the special cover features Building of the College, reflecting the essence of the occasion of Sashtipoorthi of the College.

The cover also carries a unique cancellation mark dated [26.09.2025], making it a valuable addition to any philatelic collection.

Attendees praised the initiative and many philatelists expressed keen interest in acquiring the limited-edition cover. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and distribution of the covers to dignitaries and attendees.

The special cover celebrates Sashtipoorthi of Shyam Lal College, a prominent College in North east Delhi imparting Higher education since its inception in 1964, the College is a legend and has been a cornerstone of academic excellence, community connect and sensitive towards environment besides providing quality education to students from neighbouring underprivileged communities.

The College is now among the best institutions in the entire University of Delhi and takes pride in informing that we have been accredited with A++ Grade in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Further, the College has been consistently ranked among the best 100 Colleges under NIRF with current year ranking of 43rd.
