Connecting Delhi and Rugby: A City Rooted in Passion and Diversity

Delhi, a city known for its rich history, diverse culture, and relentless energy, is a microcosm of India’s broader sporting aspirations. The city’s youthful population, urban dynamism, and increasing access to sports infrastructure make it an ideal hub for cultivating grassroots talent and fostering a rugby community.

The Delhi RedZ embodies this spirit — a team that represents not just a city, but the pulse of a nation eager to embrace new sporting horizons. The team’s name “RedZ” symbolizes passion, energy, and a fearless attitude—traits synonymous with Delhi’s spirit.

The Delhi RedZ Brand and Its Cultural Significance

In line with this vision, RMZ has launched a compelling brand film titled #DilDilMeinRedZ, capturing the heartbeat of Delhi and the essence of rugby. The film showcases the city’s bustling streets, diverse communities, and the unyielding spirit of its people—highlighting how rugby, with its values of teamwork, grit, and respect, resonates deeply with Delhi’s ethos.

This campaign isn’t just about branding; it’s about creating a movement. Delhi RedZ aims to democratize access to rugby, making it accessible to all sections of society, nurturing local talent, and inspiring the next generation of athletes.

The Future of Rugby in India and the Role of Delhi RedZ

The Rugby Premier League, launching on June 15th, aspires to position rugby as a mainstream sport in India. With broadcast coverage across Star Sports and Jio Hotstar, the league will showcase top-tier talent and grassroots initiatives. Delhi RedZ intends to be a catalyst in this transformation, fostering talent from the grassroots, promoting inclusivity, and building a sustainable rugby ecosystem.

Leadership and Vision

Sidharth and Mihir Menda, members of RMZ’s Supervisory Board, emphasize this vision: “India is playing rugby — but the nation isn’t watching yet. Through the RPL, Delhi RedZ is on a mission to change that. Our goal is to bring rugby into the mainstream, giving the sport the recognition and stage it truly deserves. In doing so, we’re not just building a team — we’re shaping an ecosystem and creating a powerful platform for the next generation of athletes to thrive. And we’re doing it at the highest level.”

Meet the Team

The team will be captained by Matías Osadczuk, the dynamic Argentine back known for his speed and strategic play, and will feature Deepak Punia, one of India’s brightest rugby stars, symbolizing the new generation of Indian talent.
