NEW DELHI: Sara X Golf Code staged a tremendous fightback to beat Baale Golf to the title at the 5th Edition of the Delhi Golf Club Members League – powered by RADICO’ which concluded at the historic Delhi Golf Club.

It was a fairy tale Final that played out at the Delhi Golf Club. The much awaited clash between Sara X Golf Code and Baale Golf began with Baale Golf taking an early lead with wins in the first two games. Then came the one and only Pratap Singh Atwal and his partner Ishan Kapur. Atwal, the longest driver of the golf ball in the League, brought Sara X Golf Code back into contention, winning the third game for them. However, young Aditya Misra of Baale Golf, all of 14-years of age, along with his partner Ashish Nath won the fourth game for Baale to keep the two game lead alive for his team, with three to go.

Half-way through the match, Baale Golf were leading in 5 of the 7 games, a situation good enough to put pressure on the best of opponents. However, Sara X Golf Code, having within their unit, some of the best Matchplay golfers in the Club, kept at it and in a display of patience and perseverance, fought back with great resilience. This earned them back-to-back wins in three games and they wrapped up the title in style.

Heading into the final hole, Baale Golf was one down. They had to win the hole outright to go into a play-off. Baale Golf’s Owner Ashwin Chandiok hit a great third shot to the green and was left facing a 20 footer for birdie to win the hole and take his team into a play-off.

Meanwhile, Imran Baig of Sara found the green in regulation. Baig was left facing a 25 footer to win the game and match for Sara. He left his putt five feet short. The limelight was now trained back on Ashwin Chandiok amidst a packed gallery. Ashwin unfortunately missed out narrowly on sinking the 20 footer. Now Baig was faced with a tough right to left breaking putt to take his team home to a win. He sank it to hand Sara X Golf Code a well-deserved maiden title win.

Athletic Drive, who took on SwingKKings in the clash for the third and fourth position started with a bang winning the first two games. But SwingKKings turned the tables on their opponents winning four games on the trot thereafter. Once again, the change was brought about by SwingKKings Team Owner Kanishk Khullar and Vikram Kapoor, who won by a 4&1 margin against Surya Uday Bedi and Tarun Talwar of Athletic Drive, in the third game of the match. With the final game tied, SwingKKings secured for themselves the third position.
