Anshul Mishra leading Indian after 36 holes; four Indians make cut in AAC in Dubai

Dubai: Anshul Mishra emerged as the lead Indian at the end of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship after carding a second round of 3-under 69 on the Majilis Course at the Emirates Golf Club.

The 17 year old from Kolkata is making his debut appearance at the championship. On the second day he had only one bogey and four birdies to place himself at T-13 heading into the weekend.

The sole bogey of the round came on the 16th hole. The birdies were made on the third, fourth, 10th and 18th holes.

Three of the four Indians made the cut and will play over the weekend. Raghav Gulati carded 2-under 70 to take his total to one under par and is placed at T-19, while Rakshit Dahiya carded his second consecutive even par round for the week and is placed at T-23.

Ranveer Mitroo carded 1-under 71 to move up to T-28 with a total of 1 over par. Harman Sachdeva was the only Indian to miss the cut as his first day score of seven over par proved to be his undoing. Despite improving his score by six strokes to card 1-over 73 Sachdeva missed the cut which was set at six over par.

Vietnam’s Khanh Hung Le continues to lead the field along with Japan’s Rintaro Nakano and Australian Harry Takis at 11 under par.

Nakano was the leader after 36 holes at the 2024 edition of the championship as well.

Le carded two bogeys in his second round to end his streak of 28 holes without a bogey as he dropped shots on the 12th and 14th holes. Nakano also made two bogeys for the day and has now successfully made eagle on the 13th hole for the second day running. Takis played a bogey free round of 6-under 66 to make his way into the shared lead before the weekend.

In fourth place, one stroke behind the leaders is Taisei Nagasaki. The 16 year old from Japan carded a bogey free round of 5-under 67. One further stroke behind is Fifa Laopakdee at nine under par after carding a 3-under 69.

Geoffrey Laklak became the first Lebanese player to make the cut at the Championship among 13 players from the country that have taken part over the years. Laklak carded 1-under 71 to follow his first day score of 1-over 73. He is T-23 on the standings with an even par score heading into the weekend.
