Ranveer Singh Dhupia of team ‘Deutsche Motoren’ was instrumental in propelling his team into the knock-out stage at the LLOYD Delhi Golf Club League – Powered by RADICO.

New Delhi: ‘Deutsche Motoren’ held their nerve to register an important win against an in-form ‘Sterling Swingers’ on Day-11 of the ‘Lloyd Delhi Golf Club League – Powered by Radico’. ‘Deutsche Motoren’ tallied 11 points as against ‘Sterling Swinger’s tally of 5 points. Both teams are certain to make the knock-out stage from their group. The League is being played at the historic par-72 Delhi Golf Club.

“Deutsche Motoren’ registered wins in the first two matches but ‘Sterling Swingers’ came back to win the third match. ‘Deutsche Motoren’ came back to win the fourth but ‘Sterling Swingers’ registered a win in the fifth match to trail by one match with two to play. ‘Deutsche Motoren’ then stepped on the gas to win the sixth and seventh matches to triumph by 6 points.

‘MMG Coca-Cola’ took a vice like grip on the second play-off match, winning the first, second and fourth matches and tying the third and fifth matches before ‘Bi Luxuty’ could even make their presence felt, with a win on the sixth. As a consolation prize, ‘Bi Luxuty’ went on to win the seventh match as well but lost by a score-line of 10 points (MMG Coca-Cola) to 5 points.

In the third play-off, ‘Bajaj Foundation’ got the better of ’24 Lions’ carding 11 points as opposed to their opponent’s tally of 5.5 points. The two teams began by tying the first match. ‘ Bajaj Foundation’ registered wins in the second and third matches, but ‘24 Lions’ came back to win the fourth match. ‘Bajaj Foundation’ then went on to win the fifth and sixth matches and a consolation win for ’24 Lions’ in the seventh and final match was not good enough to save them from defeat.

The fourth and final play-off, between ‘Shiva’ and ‘Bharat Strikers’, witnessed the first match being tied. ‘Shiva’ won the second match but ‘Bharat Strikers’ leveled scores with a win in the third match. Coming back with a bang, ‘Shiva’ won the fourth and fifth matches. ‘Bharat Strikers’ won the sixth match and with the seventh match tied, ‘Shiva’ emerged triumphant with 9.5 points against ‘Bharat Strikers’ 6.5 points

With 22 teams and 12 days of action to go in the round-robin stage, the field is very open and golf lovers are in for some scintillating golf. The League, being played at the historic par-72 Delhi Golf Club course, features 15 days of hard-fought golf and will conclude in a Grand Finale on November 4, 2023.

The tournament is being played on a ‘Four-ball better-ball Matchplay’ Format. The League will be played in two stages – a Round Robin stage followed by a Knock-out stage. During each playoff match between two teams, each team will field 7 pairs (14 players). One pair from each team will play against a pair from the other team in a “Four-ball better-ball” Matchplay format with all the players playing off 75% of their original handicaps. The teams will get points for their wins. The 22 teams have been divided into 4 groups. After the Round Robin stage, 2 teams from each group will qualify for the Knock-out stage starting with the Quarter-finals. The Finals will be played on November 4, 2023.
