Legends 9 come from behind to tie with Shiva Mahindra at DGC Members League

NEW DELHI: Legends 9 held their nerves despite mounting pressure and inclement weather, to tie with Shiva Mahindra after being one game down going into their final game of day-4 of the Delhi Golf Club Members League – powered by RADICO’ at the historic Delhi Golf club here today.

The duo of Shiv Nath and Alok Modi did well to beat Maj. Gen Anil P Dere and Brig Tarun Ohri to level scores. Both teams tallied 7 points apiece.

Earlier, the fourth match of the day between Legends 9 and Shiva Mahindra, witnessed Shiva Mahindra win the first two games before Legends 9 returned the favour with wins in the third and fourth games. Shiva registered another win on the fifth and the sixth game was tied leaving Shiva Mahindra in the lead with one game left to play.

At the start of the day, Victorious Choice started off in grand fashion with wins in their first two games. However they were ill prepared for what was to follow with SaraXGolfCode going on to win the remainder of the five games. SaraXGolfCode finished with 10 points while Victorious Choice could manage only 4.

The match between Ardee Masters and Deutsche Motoren was a closely fought one. The contest witnessed Ardee Masters win the opening game but Deutsche Motoren drew level with a win in the second. Ardee came back to win the third game but Deutsche Motoren pulled back with a win in the fourth. With the fifth game tied, all eyes were glued om the pair of Gautam Malhotra and Ashok Bedi (Ardee Masters) and Jayant Kumaar and Puneet Matta (Deutsche Motoren). Kumaar and Matta managed to triumph and with the last game tied, Deutsche Motoren snuck ahead to a well-deserved win rallying 8 points as against their opponents tally of 6 points.

The third match of the day between MMG Coco-Cola and The Pioneers started with a tie but The Pioneers stepped on the gas thereafter, to register wins in the next three games. MMG-CocaCola won the fifth game. The sixth was tied and The Pioneers completed formalities with a win on the final game of the match to tally 10 points as against their opponent’s 4.

The final contest of the day between 24 Lions and The A-Team began with a tied game. The duo of Kapil Dev and KK Bajiria handed The A- Team a win in the second game. The third game too was tied but 24 Lions roared back with four straight wins from the fourth to the seventh games. 24 Lions tallied 10 points as against The A-Team’s total of 4 points.
