New Delhi: The young talented Keya Badugu of Bliss Golfers, contributed to her team’s resounding win against TeeM EDC on day-8 of the Fourth Edition of the ‘Lloyd Delhi Golf Club League powered by Radico’. Bliss Golfers won 4-1.

In what was the second contest of the day, Bliss Golfers beat TeeM EDC to bag 3 vital points.  Shon Kipgen and Viraj Singh drew first blood for Bliss Golfers winning the opening game against Rakesh Nath and Shiv Sachdeva but  TeeM EDC came back to win the next game thanks to excellent teamwork by Jivraj Khurana and Rahul Misra.  Bliss Golfers went on to win the third and fourth games and the fifth was tied.  This was when, the icing settled on a cake, courtesy Keya Badugu’s performance.  The youngster along with Biren Nagi, beat Ambrish Jaipuria and Avyay Misra to fetch her team a resounding 4-1 victory.

In the opening match of the day between Defending Champions Christie’s Golf and The A Team, the latter took an early lead winning the first two games. Ajay Singh Sirohi and Amar Bindra helped Christie’s pull one back in the third game  but the duo of Ashish Jain and Luvy Shriram of The A Team won the fourth match against Pranav Sahil and Himmat Singh   However, the inform Christie’s Captain Bikram Singh teaming up with Sonal Chaudhri followed by Prem Dugal and Vikramjit Singh, ensured Christie’s Golf drew level with The A Team to tie the contest 3-3.

In the third clash of the day, Sara Gold Code overcame Shiva by a 4-2 margin to annexe 3 points. Sara Golf Code started with back to back wins in the opening two games. Shiva however, aided by percentage golf by the teams of first Madhav Dalvi and Navina Punj and then Pooja Ahluwalia and SK Nahar, won the third and fourth games to draw level. Sar Golf Code then recovered to win the last two games and annexe the match.

In the final match of the day, Deutsche Motoren beat Ardee Masters 3-1. Girish Virk and Jagat Bedi gave Deutsche Motoren an early impetus with a win in the first game against Lal Raisinghani and Ravi Capoor of Ardee. The next two games were tied but Deutsche won the fourth game to go 2 up. Ardee came back to win the fifth game but Deutsche Motoren wrapped up the fine game to win the match and bag 3 points.

The League is being played on a four-ball better ball Matchplay Format and over two stages – a Round Robin stage followed by a Knock-out stage. During each playoff match between two teams in the Round Robin stage, each team will field 6 pairs (12 players). One pair from each team will play against a pair from the other team in the above-mentioned format, with all the players playing off 90% of their original handicaps. The teams will get points for their wins. The 24 teams have been divided into 4 groups. After the Round Robin stage, during which the teams from one group will compete against each other. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Knock-out stage starting with the Quarter-finals. In the Knock-out Stage the matches between two teams will be contested by seven  pairs (14 players). The Finals, as mentioned earlier, will be played on 26th October, 2024.
