New Delhi: Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences has advanced to the semifinals in both the men’s and women’s categories of the 12th Padma Shree Shyam Lal Memorial Hockey Tournament.

In the men’s category, Shyam Lal College (Morning), Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Shyam Lal ‘B’, and Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences have secured places in the semifinals.

In the women’s category, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Janki Devi Memorial College, Vivekananda College and Delhi University Alumna have confirmed their spots in the last four.

In the women’s category, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences defeated Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College 3–0. All three goals were scored by Khushi, but Hema Negi was awarded the Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.

Delhi University Alumna defeated Vivekananda College 4–1. For the winners, Neelam Sharma and Sonika Yadav scored two goals each. Sonia Bhatia scored the lone goal for Vivekananda College. Neelam Sharma was named Player of the Match.

In another league match, Delhi University Alumna also defeated Bharti College 5–0. Sonu Sharma and Vidhi scored two goals each, while Neelam scored one goal. Sonu Sharma received the Player of the Match award.

In the men’s category, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College defeated Kirori Mal College 4–2. Danish of the winning team was named Player of the Match. For Khalsa College, Manish scored two goals, while Tanuj and Sagar scored one goal each. Samar scored both goals for Kirori Mal College.

Amity University defeated Shyam Lal College (Evening) 7–0 in a one-sided contest. Tejpal of Amity University was awarded Player of the Match. Mohit scored four goals for the winners, while Agrim, Varun, and Ishan scored one goal each.
