New Delhi:Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, SLC ‘B’, Shyam Lal College Alumni in the men’s category and Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in the women’s category advanced in the 12th Padma Shree Shyam Lal Memorial Hockey Tournament with their respective victories.

SLC ‘B’ defeated Shri Ram College of Commerce 3–1. Abhishek of SLC ‘B’ was awarded Player of the Match. For the winning team, Kamal, Deepak, and Rishu scored one goal each, while Hrithik scored the lone goal for the losing team.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College defeated Shyam Lal College (Evening) 8–1. For the winners, Tanuj scored four goals, Manish scored two, and Sagar and Sushil scored one goal each. Abhijit scored the only goal for the defeated team. Tanuj was given Player of the Match award.

Shyam Lal College Alumni defeated Hansraj College 1–0. Shravan scored the only goal of the match. Sunil from the winning team received the Player of the Match award.

In the women’s category, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences defeated Janki Devi Memorial College 3–0. Aanchal, Pinky, and Anshika scored one goal each. Aanchal got the Player of the Match award.

Ten teams in the men’s category and six teams in the women’s category are competing on a league cum knockout basis. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals, followed by the final match between the two finalists. Last year, Shyam Lal College won the men’s title, while the Delhi University Alumna team emerged as champions in the women’s category
