Khel Today Bureau
Diu: Haryana powered their way to the Khelo India Beach Games kabaddi gold medals even as Tamil Nadu clinched a double in the beach volleyball competition on Day 5 on Friday. Jammu and Kashmir finished with five pencak silat golds to climb to the top three of the medal standings at the time of writing.
With a dozen pencak silat gold medals decided on the penultimate day of the Games, the standings have been heavily impacted by the outcome in the various categories of this Indonesian martial art form. Interestingly, Madhya Pradesh, which emerged team champions when the Beach Games were first held in Diu in January 2024, clinched their first two gold in KIBG 2025, courtesy pencak silat.
Jammu & Kashmir and Nagaland have been the biggest gainers in the pencak silat competition. J&K won four golds on Friday and Nagaland two, while Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra opened their golden account in pencak silat.
The popular beach volleyball championship ended on Friday evening. The men’s final was an all-Tamil Nadu affair. Kerala won the bronze. The women’s final also saw Tamil Nadu win the gold medal ahead of Puducherry. Andhra Pradesh got the bronze.
Earlier on Friday at the Ghogla Beach, Haryana bagged gold in both men’s and women’s kabaddi. The kabaddi giants had produced a similar feat at the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in Rajgir, Bihar as well earlier this month. Maharashtra won bronze in both categories.

In the men’s final on the Ghoghla Beach here, captain and Premier Kabaddi League regular Monu Hooda and his team completely dominated Rajasthan and finished with an emphatic scoreline of 48-29. Haryana led 33-11 at the end of first half.
The Haryana women’s team faced stiff competition from a determined Himachal Pradesh side in the final. The Haryana women’s team, with an average age of 21, won the match 45-38. The champions had a slender two-point (22-20) lead at the halfway mark.

North-East states have excelled in the sepak takraw competition. In the trio finals held late on Thursday, Manipur and Assam won the women’s and men’s finals, respectively. Manipur girls won 2-1 against Nagaland in the women’s trio final, while Assam beat Delhi 2-1 in the men’s final. This was Manipur’s fourth medal in sepak takraw events (gold – women’s trio, silver – men’s and women’s team trio, bronze – men’s trio) at the KIBG 2025.
Assam bagged a much-needed gold in sepak takraw at the KIBG 2025. They had earlier also won bronze in the men’s Team Trio event. “We don’t have proper beach or even indoor facilities in Assam and there is also intermittent rain all the time. Despite that, what we’ve achieved is just because of our hard work. We are proud of the kids and happy that I’m a coach of this team,” said Bidhumukhi Singha, coach of the men’s sepak takraw team, to SAI Media.
“Because of the continuous rain back in Assam, we don’t get to practice so much. But we came here at the Khelo India Beach Games, played in this surface for the first time and that too without shoes, which we normally don’t. I’m very proud that this gold came for Assam and the boys showcased their abilities,” added Bidhumukhi, who is also a senior coach at the Khelo India Centre (KIC) Hailakhandi, that puts specific focus on sepak takraw.
