New Delhi: Korfball Federation of India is very optimistic that Indian team will win a medal in the IKF Asia – Oceania Korfball Championship 2022 and secure a place in the World Championship.

A 21 member Indian Korfball contingent left for Bangkok, Thailand to participate in the IKF Asia -Oceania Korfball Championship 2022 here on Thursday.

A Send-off Dinner was arranged on Wednesday at LOTUS LOUNGE, India International Centre, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. All the players, coaches and Manager along with officials of National Federation expressed confidence to give better performance.

Recently, India got seventh position in the 1st IKF World Beach Korfball championship at Nador, Morocco. A total of 13 Countries participated in the 14 team championship.

Himanshu Nath Mishra, President, Korfball Federation of India was not in the city, gave his best wishes to the Indian contingent through a video call.

Rajesh Kumar Saini, coach of the team said, ” I am sure our team will give top class performance and qualify for the World Championship. We have been working hard for the last three months.”

” Once we comeback to India we will prepare for World Championship, which is very important event, ” he added.

Team Captain Nitesh and Vice Captain Balvinder Kaur were also confident that team will do well as they are putting all efforts to shine in Bangkok.

International Swimmer and Associate Professor (Sports) of Lady Shri Ram College, Ms Meenakshi Pahuja brought a ‘Good Luck’ cake and the honour to cut the cake was given to Indian captain Nitesh and Vice captain Balvinder Kaur. Meenakshi along with her sports loving sister Dr. Supriya Pahuja, Harpal Singh Flora, President, Delhi Rope skipping Association and Ravi Raj of Korfball Delhi, were also present to support and give their good wishes to the players and officials.
