Sumit Das and Jagdish Singh Jassa won Gold Medals in the Full Powerlifting Raw category

New Delhi: Dronacharya Bhupender Dhawan’s trainee, Gurdit Singh, once again created history by becoming the Best Lifter at the Balkan Open Classic and Equipped (Bench Press / Squat / Deadlift) Championship held on 6-7th September 2025 at Belgrade, Serbia.

Earlier, in 2024, Gurdit had won the Best Lifter title at the English Open in England.

Gurdit won the Best Lifter title in the Junior 110+ KG category, while Sumit Das won Gold in the Senior 110 KG category, and Jagdish Singh Jassa secured Gold in the Senior 100 KG category.

India’s Gurdit Singh earned the Best Lifter (Junior Category) title with a total lift of 667.5 KG (Classic Raw).

Sumit Das and Jagdish Singh Jassa both won Gold Medals in the Full Powerlifting Raw category.

IPL India President, Mr. Om Prakash Angrish, congratulated the trainees of Indian Team’s Coach Dronacharya Bhupender Dhawan and wished them all the best for their future endeavors.

The entire Indian team expressed their gratitude to their coach, Dronacharya Bhupender Dhawan, as well as to IPL India and Sheru Classic World. They said, “We have achieved this success with the support of all of you. We dedicate our performance to the Khelo India and Fit India Movement, initiated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi.”
