Avani Lekhara wins Gold in 10 meter Air Rifle standing event of National Para Shooting Championship

New Delhi: Avani Lekhara won Gold in her favourite 10 meter Air Rifle Womens standing in the 2nd National Para Shooting Championsh, this is the same event she won the gold at 2020 Tokyo paralympic. Silver won by Mona Aggarwal from Rajasthan too. Bronze went to Akansha Choudhary of U.P. This championship is being conducted under the aegis of Paralympic Committee of India at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges, Sports Authority of India, Tuglakabad, New Delhi from 21-25 March 2022.

A increased number of 327 entries has been received and total 22 affiliated units including States, Army, Airforce, CRPF and BSF. It is heartening to see a young 09 years old Sourabhi Sharma from Rajasthan and equally enthusiast 57 years old Mr. M.S. Nagendera from Karnataka. 

All the officials are very happy to see a strict disciplined is maintained by all the Jury members, range officials.

A mere 10-12 para shooters participation in 2016 and now 327 entries is incredible. Man behind this mission is Mr. J.P.Nautiyal, Dronacharya Awardee, who is the Chairperson of Para Shooting India and Chief Coach, Indian Para Shooting team. He is elated on the increase in number of the para shooters and even scores as per international standard.

Finals were also conducted in the events, wherein minimum 10 Para Shooters participated. A exciting finals of 10 Mtr Air Pistol Men, Women and 10 Mtr Air Rifle standing Men were conducted on 22nd  and 23rd March 2022. Uttar Pradesh Won both the Air Pistol Men and Women Gold. Deepender Singh, Paralympian Won the Gold, Wherein 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Gold Medalist Manish Narwal won Silver and Bronze won by Singhraj, 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Silver and Bronze Medalist. In Women Air Pistol Sumedha Pathak won gold Medal, Silver by Paralympic finalist Rubina Francis from M.P. and Bronze by 16 years old Bhakti Sharma from Delhi. In 10 Mtr Air Rifle Standing Men. Aditya Giri from Tamil Nadu won the coveted Gold, Silver by Paralympic Finalist Swaroop Mahavir Unhalkar from Maharastra and Bronze by Krishan Kr. From Haryana. 

In 10 Mtr Air Rifle Prone, in a exciting final, Para Shooter from 08 states participating. In last shot finish, Gold won by Tokyo Paralympian Deepak Saini from Haryana, Silver won by Tokyo Paralympian Sidhartha Babu from Kerela and Bronze won by Ankur Das, a junior shooter from West Bengal
