Delhi Government announces cash award of Rs.3 crores for Gold medal winner athletes from Delhi in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Four athletes from Delhi, shooter Deepak Kumar, Table Tennis player Manika Batra, Runners Amoj Jacob and Sarthak Bhambri, have been selected to participate in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Delhi Government has announced cash awards to the tune of Rs. 3 crores for Gold medal winners, Rs. 2 crores will be given to the winners of Silver medal and Rs. 1 crore to the winners of Bronze medal.

Preparations are in full swing for Delhi to produce future Olympians and we are ensuring that no stone is left unturned to build a world-class Sports University. Delhi Sports University will work to prepare those sportspersons who will win medals for the country in the Olympic Games. Delhi Sports University will develop Delhi as a massive sports hub. In order to promote sports in this direction, the university will organize sports events all over Delhi through community sports so that an active environment is created for sports in Delhi as well as in the whole country and we can host the 2048 Olympic Games.-Manish Sisodia, Deputy CM, Delhi Government

NEW DELHI: Delhi Government is quite serious about developing a sports culture and working hard for the upliftment of facilities for athletes and puting modern sports infrastructure.
On Friday Delhi Government has announced a never before huge cash rewards for their Olympic bound athletes to encourage them to win medals in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Four athletes from Delhi have been selected to participate in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Delhi Government has announced cash awards to the tune of Rs. 3 crores for Gold medal winners, Rs. 2 crores will be given to the winners of Silver medal and Rs. 1 crore to the winners of Bronze medal.
Delhi Government has also decided to give Rs. 10 lakhs to all the coaches who’s trainee will win medal in Tokyo Olympics. The Four athletes from Delhi are shooter Deepak Kumar, Table Tennis player Manika Batra, Runners Amoj Jacob and Sarthak Bhambri.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia called a meeting to discuss how to  support these athletes along with the Delhi Sports University Vice-Chancellor Karnam Malleshwari.
The meeting stressed immense importance on boosting enthusiasm and providing multidimensional support to athletes from Delhi participating in the coveted Tokyo Olympics 2020 and the role of the Delhi Sports University in building the next cohort of athletes who would represent India in future Olympic games.

Khel Ratna Awardee Manika Batra will represent India in Table Tennis.
Deepak Kumar will represent India in the 10m Air Rifle Shooting event.
Amoj Jacob and Sarthak Bhambri will participate in the 4×400m relay.

Delhi Sports School is also being established under Delhi Sports University. Admissions for Delhi Sports School will begin from the next session. Allocation of sports for students will be done keeping in mind their abilities and interests, and they will be given the best training in their sport.
