New Delhi:The Mirchi Get Active Expo, a beacon for fitness enthusiasts, launched today with an electrifying inaugural ceremony featuring double Paralympic Gold medallist Avani Lekhara. As the expo precedes the much-awaited Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, the two-time Paralympic Champion lit the ceremonial lamp to launch the expo while also enlightening the crowd with her inspiring words.

The expo is being held at the KD Jadhav Wrestling Stadium, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, from October 17-19, 2024, setting the stage for the highly anticipated Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon on Sunday, October 20.
Lekhara, whose remarkable journey embodies the spirit of resilience, captivated the audience with her powerful narrative. “More than winning medals, being a catalyst in someone’s life – igniting their self-belief – that’s what fuels my passion,” Lekhara said as her words drew cheers from the crowd.

The sharpshooting champion unveiled the struggles preceding her 2024 Paralympic triumph, including a critical surgery that sidelined her training for a month. Lekhara’s unwavering determination shone through as she recounted, “There I was, dreams seemingly shattered in March after surgery followed by a month of bed-rest, while others were training hard. But then I realized – this is my calling. My love for India, my desire to represent her – that’s why I started this journey.”

Lekhara’s mantra, “Ek din sab theek ho jaega (One day, everything will be okay)” became her battle cry during those grueling weeks of preparation. “From that moment of doubt to clinching another gold for India – it was a monumental leap of faith,” she reflected.

The Mirchi Get Active Expo serves as the centre for runners gearing up for the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. Here, participants can collect their essential running bibs and explore exclusive deals from top-tier sports and lifestyle brands. The expo welcomes visitors from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Thursday and Friday, and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday.
