New Delhi: National Sports Day was celebrated at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in the presence of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble Founder, KIIT and KISS, Dr. Prashant Kumar. Routray, Register KISS Deemed to be University; Pramod Kumar Patra, Dy. Register; Dr. Gaganendu Dash, Director sports KIIT along with International and National players of KISS and Sports Coaches. Dr. samanta offered homage to Dhyanchand, the legendary hockey star of India and remembered his contribution to the sports in India.

KIIT students and Olympian sprinter Dutee Chand, fencer C A Bhavani Devi, javelin thrower Shivpal Singh were felicitated in the presence of Rahul Bose, Actor, Director, Writer, Philanthropist and Board Member of Rugby India and other eminent guests.

In a rare show of warmth for their efforts and successes at the Olympics in Tokyo, KIIT made the day special through a felicitation ceremony for the ones from Odisha. The day before, KIIT students and Olympian sprinter Dutee Chand, fencer C A Bhavani Devi, javelin thrower Shivpal Singh and hockey stars Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo were felicitated by KIIT & KISS at a special ceremony in KIIT on 28th August 2021 in the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Dilip Tirkey, Chairman, Hockey Promotional Board, Odisha Guest of eminence, Mr. Rahul Bose, Actor, Director, Writer, Philanthropist and Board Member of Rugby India; and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS. The seven Olympians were given financial assistance worth Rs. 1.00 Lakh each for their outstanding performance. Olympians and Hockey players Sunita Lakra and Lilima Minz are now pursuing their higher education in KIIT, while international Hockey players Dipsan Tirkey and Sarita Hanuman, junior international Hockey player Stanli Victor Minz, international athlete (800m) Namita Kobat, national-level athlete (javelin throw) Domonti Murmur are also pursuing their education in KIIT & KISS, informed Dr. Samanta.
