Lucknow: A raft of talent has assembled to compete in the Uttar Pradesh ITF $25k Men’s Open at Ekana Sports Stadium in Lucknow.

In the final qualifying round, Uttar Pradesh’s Yash Chaurasia managed to impress everyone with his victory over the Belgian R. Faucon by 6-7,6-3,10-4. The qualifying favourite Vishnu Vardhan too was shown the door by fellow Indian M. Kamath with a tough scoreline of 6-7,6-3,5-10.

The first round of main draw matches saw the tournament top seed Vietnamese Nam Hoang LY sail through with an easy win over Dali Blanch of USA with 7-6,6-3.

Meanwhile, it was an intense battle between Uttar Pradesh star southpaws Rushil Khosla and Siddharth Vishwakarma. The two times winner of the Asian Tennis Tour Siddharth Vishwakarma got the better of Asian Junior Davis Cupper Rushil in the first set which was stretched to a tie-break. The second set saw Vishwakarma take a 4-3 lead in a neck-to-neck battle which came to a halt due to a sudden downpour. The match will continue tomorrow morning.
