New Delhi: The Delhi Capitals booked their place in the Women’s Premier League Final after defeating Gujarat Giants by seven wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday. The Delhi Capitals restricted the Gujarat Giants to 126/9 before chasing down their target in 13.1 overs.

Shafali Verma, who played a blistering innings of 71 runs from 37 balls, spoke about her bond with the Captain Meg Lanning, “I have a great bond with Meg Lanning and she looks to keep guiding me as well. I scored a string of 20s and 30s in the last season of WPL, however, I know I can record big scores when I am in good touch. I am happy that I’ve been able to build my innings this season.”

When asked if she has made any changes to her game this season, the opener said, “I’ve made a few changes technically and mentally this season. I feel I am more stable while I am playing my shots and I am able to find the gaps as well. It feels great to perform well for the team.”

Verma also said that putting up consistent performances is important for her, “I am certainly looking to put in consistent performances. With experience, one understands her game better. You can identify the areas you can improve upon. I get motivated by players like Meg, who have been consistent for a long period of time.”

Speaking about playing at Delhi Capitals’ home ground, Verma said, “My home is very close to Delhi and it’s a different feeling to play at our home ground. We’ve ticked all our boxes now. Lifting the trophy is the only thing remaining for us.”
