The championship was organized under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

The competition commenced on 25th May 2025 with Free Style Wrestling, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Sports Minister of Haryana Government, Sh. Gaurav Gautam. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the country and showcased some of the best young wrestling talents in India.

The WFI maintained a strict stance on age verification and disqualified 10–15 wrestlers who were found to be overaged. Among them was Yash Kumar (DOB: 20/07/2008), son of Sh. Parveen Kumar from Delhi, who was disqualified despite having recently won a Gold Medal at the Khelo India Youth Games in Patna.

The WFI reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on age fraud and announced it would approach the General Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) to mandate a bone age test for Yash Kumar. Several other overage wrestlers from different states were also disqualified to ensure fair play and transparency in the competition.

Due to the WFI’s rule of imposing a restriction on wrestlers above a certain age, wrestlers from states that usually do not expect medals have also succeeded in winning. State like Odisha and Telangana are among them.
