First time Indian Free Style Team clinched 3rd place trophy in any Junior World Championship

First time Indian Free Style team won  7 medals in Junior World Championship.

New Delhi:  India’s Mahendra Gaikwad o lost in final of 125 kg. of 2022 Junior World Wrestling Championship at Sofia (Bulgaria). In the women section Priya Malik of 76 kg. can bring gold medal as she entered into final by defeating Hungarian wrestler.

On Wednesday, 3 Free Style Wrestler also clinched medal in their respective weight category. 2 wrestlers won their Bronze Medal bouts while Mahendra Gaikwad of 125 kg. lost in final and won Silver Medal.

The medal winners are:

Silver:  Mahendra Gaikwad – 125 Kg.
Bronze: Mohit Kumar – 61 kg.
Bronze: Sagar Jaglan – 74 kg.

It is first time that Indian Junior Free Style Team clinched 3rd place trophy in any Junior World Championship with 112 Points.It is also history that Free Style team won total 7 medals in Junior World Championship. Iran clinched champion trophy with 159 points whereas USA is runner-up with 132 points.

The bouts in Women Wrestling were also held and Priya Malik of 76 kg. entered into final by defeating Hungarian wrestler. 2 girls also reached in the semifinals but they lost and will compete for Bronze medal on Thursday.

Priya Malik of 76 kg. for Gold Medal
Priyanshi of 50 kg. for Bronze Medal
Manju of 55 Kg. for Bronze Medal

Other 2 women Bhagyashree of 59 kg. & Arju of 68 kg. will fight in repeacheges for Bronze.

The bouts in remaining 5 weight categories of Women Wrestling will also be held today.
