Gulzar Sandhu Shines as Bhavani Youth Cricket Club Edges Friends Cricket Club by 8 Wickets

New Delhi: Bhavani Youth Cricket Club produced a clinical chase to defeat Friends Cricket Club by 5 wickets in an entertaining Group C encounter of the prestigious 51st All India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament. The tournament, one of Delhi’s oldest and most respected cricket competitions, continues to provide a platform for emerging talent.

Batting first, after winning the toss, Friends Cricket Club posted a competitive 167/6 in 20 overs. The backbone of their innings was a superb knock from Dev Mehra, who played a fighting innings of 83 runs off 53 balls*, smashing 12 fours and 2 sixes. He held the innings together after early setbacks and ensured Friends finished with a challenging total. Valuable contributions also came from Prince Mehra (29) and Manav (25).

For Bhavani Youth Cricket Club, the bowlers shared the spoils with Sabhay Chadha, Mahaksh Dewan, Kartik Pawar, Neelmani Kumar, Yatharth Singh, and Mridul Surroch picking up a wicket each to keep the opposition in check.

Chasing 168, Bhavani Youth got off to a brisk start through Kamaksh Sharma, who struck a quick-fire 44 off 16 balls, setting the tone for the chase. However, the star of the match was Gulzar Sandhu, who produced a breathtaking unbeaten 96 off just 32 deliveries*, hammering 7 fours and 10 towering sixes. His explosive stroke play completely shifted the momentum in Bhavani Youth’s favour and left the opposition bowlers with no answers.

Gulzar found support from Dipesh Balyan (8)* as the pair guided their side home comfortably at 172/2 in just 12.2 overs, sealing a memorable eight-wicket victory with plenty of overs to spare.
