‘Christie’s Golf’ to clash with ‘The Pioneers’ at LLOYD DGCL Final

New Delhi: ‘Christie’s Golf’ outplayed ‘Sterling Swingers’ while ‘The Pioneers’ got the better of ‘Deutsche Motoren’ in the Semi-Finals of the ‘Lloyd Delhi Golf Club League – Powered by Radico’ at the par-72, Delhi Golf Club here today.  The two teams will now clash for the title while ‘Sterling Swingers’ and ‘Deutsche Motoren’ will play for the third and fourth position on November 4, 2023

In the first Semi-Final of the day, ‘Christie’s Golf’ started off on the wrong foot, losing the opening match to ‘Sterling Swingers’.  ‘Christie’s Golf’ pulled back with a win in the second match, but ‘Sterling Swingers’ were equal to the task, registering a win in the third match.  An unfazed ‘Christie’s Golf’ recorded a win in the fourth match to level scores.  This is where the young talented Karamjit Bedi and his partner Pratap Atwal came into the picture.  They registered a win for ‘Christie’s Golf’ in the fifth match against Pranav Khanna and Gaure Monga of ‘Sterling Swingers’.  Christies didn’t look back thereafter, carding wins in the sixth and seventh matches to tally 11 points as against ‘Sterling Swingers’ 5.5 points

The contest between ‘The Pioneers’ and ‘Deutsche Motoren’ began with the former winning the first match of the day.  The second match was tied but ‘The Pioneer’ won the  third and the fourth matches.  ‘Deutsche Motoren’ came back with wins in the fifth and the sixth matches but ‘The Pioneer’ won the final match to book a final clash with ‘Christie’s Golf’. ‘The Pioneer’ tallied 9.5 points as against 6.5 by ‘Deutsche Motoren’.

The tournament is being played on a ‘Four-ball better-ball Matchplay’ Format.  The League is being played in two stages – a Round Robin stage followed by a Knock-out stage. During each playoff match between two teams, each team can field 7 pairs (14 players). One pair from each team will play against a pair from the other team in a “Four-ball better-ball” Matchplay format with all the players playing off 75% of their original handicaps. The teams will get points for their wins. The 22 teams have been divided into 4 groups. After the Round Robin stage, 2 teams from each group will qualify for the Knock-out stage starting with the Quarter-finals.  The Finals will be played on November 4, 2023.
