New Delhi: 2nd Shri S.S. Khungar Memorial Sports Fest – Athletic Meet started with grand opening Ceremony here at Bharat National Public School.
The grand ceremony showcased the remarkable talents and skills of student athletes. The event featured captivating displays of group work, strength, and coordination through yoga, pyramid formations, and Taekwondo drills. The opening ceremony was graced by several esteemed dignitaries. Mr. Himanshu Gupta, IAS, Director of Education, DoE, was the chief guest, and Ms. Heeral Sadhu, Asian Games 2023 medalist in speed skating, was the special guest. Ms. Arti Khungar, Principal of HES, Sharad Vihar, Mr. Prem Kumar Tyagi, DDE Zone East, Mr. Pradyumn Ahuja, Chairman of Vivekanand School, Ms. Swapna Nair, Principal of Bal Bharti Public School, Mr. B.S. Vohra, a prominent social activist, and Mr. Ramesh Kandpal were also welcomed by Mr. Kanwaljeet Khungar, the principal of BNPS, and Ms. Pashmina Khungar, the school coordinator of BNPS, as special guests of the event.
The opening ceremony was nothing short of spectacular, leaving a lasting impression on all those in attendance.
A total of 25 teams participated in the competition, each vying for supremacy on the track.
Mr. Himanshu Gupta, IAS, emphasized the significance of sports participation, health, and wellness alongside academic studies. He said that through sports, individuals can acquire invaluable life skills that will aid them in achieving
success. Ms. Heeral Sadhu, in her inspiring speech, encouraged students to always listen to their coaches and teachers and learn from their experiences, assuring
them that their coaches will never let them down.
On the first day of the event, finals were held for the U-14 600 meters and U- 16 800, meters categories for both boys and girls.
The results are as follows:
U- 16 800 Meters Boys:
– Gold: Kartik (Angles Public School).
– Silver: Jiyansh Jain (Ryan International School, Mayur Vihar).
– Bronze: Lavansh Pathak (SR Capital Public School).
