NDMC will develop Cycle Track, Multi-Playing Equipment and Duck House at Nehru Park: Satish Upadhyay

The motive of NDMC behind this initiative is to beautify NDMC area and achieve 7 Star ranking in the forthcoming Swacchta Survekshan 2022 and celebrate 75 years of India’s independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

New Delhi: With the aim of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Swachh Bharat Mission” and to enhance the beautification of Parks & Gardens of the New Delhi area, NDMC will develop and launch the various new projects at Nehru Park like a dedicated Cycle Track around the park, Multi playing equipment especially for children and Duck House to enhance the beauty of the park, It is informed by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Vice Chairman, Shri Satish Upadhyay.

While describing the beauty of Nehru Park, Shri Upadhyay informed that the Nehru Park is situated in the heart of the city and can give lungs to the NDMC area by providing fresh air in a lush green environment. The park is spread over an area of 75 acres which contains more than 3700 trees of 126 different species. The park was inaugurated on 25th February 1965 by the then Prime Minister – Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and it is a hub for the ones who like to unwind in open spaces blessed with nature. The park is a favourite among the people who live in embassies nestled close by and like to come here for jogging, walking, and enjoying other sports. The Park has around 4 km long jogging track.

Cycle Track around Nehru Park

Shri Upadhyay said that you can achieve numerous health benefits through daily cycling, such as cardiovascular fitness, improved heart health and improved muscle strength and tone. In view of this, NDMC will develop a dedicated cycle track about 3km in length is proposed to be constructed around the Nehru Park boundary wall so that cyclists for fitness can ride safely and hassle-free for their health benefits without disturbing the morning walkers.

He further informed that the design and specifications of the cycle track is provided by the School of Planning & Architecture as an expert consultant for the project. The cycle track will be made from micro surfacing and coldplast green color paint for better riding quality on the cycle track. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3.99 Crores approximately.

 

Multi Playing Equipment for Children, Nehru Park

Shri Upadhyay informed that lots of groups of children from different parts of the city/schools come to Nehru Park regularly. In view of this NDMC will develop exclusive children’s corner with multi-playing equipment is being provided for the safety and security of the children and for joy and health benefits, besides there are other child attraction points at Nehru Parks such as Monkey Cable Bridge, Number of fountains, Floating Stage in Lake, Lush Green terrain / mounts, state of art furniture, open gym etc. Multi Playing Equipment for Children will be provided with synthetic EPDM flooring for safety and security for the children, he informed. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 79.77 Lakhs approximately.

Duck House

To enhance the beauty of Nehru Park, NDMC is planning the Duck Coop being provided near the Nehru Park Lake where a number of ducks will be inhabited safely and children will enjoy seeing /watching as existed at Lodhi Garden Lake. He said that presently there are no such dedicated activities at Nehru Park. He hoped these will be special features for Child Attraction in the Nehru Park. The work has been awarded and will be completed by July, 2022. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 12.5 Lakhs approximately.

He further informed that all works will be completed in this financial year in a time-bound manner.

Shri Upadhyay said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India had already announced the Swachhta Mission in 2014 to ensure cleanliness in market areas, public places, roads, parks etc. in each city. The motive of NDMC behind this initiative is to beautify NDMC area and achieve 7 Star ranking in the forthcoming Swacchta Survekshan 2022 and celebrate 75 years of India’s independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.S hri Upadhyay said that team NDMC is committed to implementing the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India with true spirit.
